Overview
Desai Foundation started Menstrual Hygiene Management awareness programs in rural areas of Gujarat. And with the aim to generate employment in the rural areas, they set up a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit using a manual machine for it.
They started looking for a good sanitary napkin manufacturing machine that could produce high-quality napkins when they came across Swachh.
The Solution
A project named ‘Asani’ was initiated with the installation of the ‘Swachh 3.0’ machine in 2018 in Gujarat. Currently, there are 11 women in production staff and more than 200 women taking care of distribution of sanitary napkins. After running the Swachh machine in Valsad, Gujarat for 2 years, they have now scaled their production in 2 other locations – Bharuch (Gujarat) and Nanded (Maharashtra).
