Swachh machines provide an ideal solution for district level business opportunities which not only create jobs but also provide access to high quality sanitary napkins locally, thereby, reducing the cost of sanitary napkins. With the focus of Maharashtra Government to boost start-up and Government collaboration, a flagship program called MH start-up week was initiated in 2018. Saral Designs was a winner of the first ever MH start-up week in addition to winning NASSCOM organized Maharashtra’s most innovative start-up award by the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Overview

Post winning the MH startup week award, a work order of INR 15Lac was given to Saral Designs to work with the District Collector of Chandrapur, Maharashtra to set-up a semi-automatic SWACHH 1.2 sanitary napkin production at Anandwan.

The Solution

Semi-automatic SWACHH 1.2 sanitary napkin production was installed at Anandwan with Strissue, an initiative of Maharogi Sewa Samiti NGO. Under the vision of Baba Amte, the NGO has a legacy of supporting disabled and marginalized communities in Anandwan. 

The project included supporting the NGO with machine set-up, supporting infrastructure of production, training, installation, 3 month raw material supply and maintenance support.
Currently, there are 6 women working in the production unit. Strissue initiative is also working on increasing knowledge about menstrual hygiene management in Chandrapur district.
